Marilyn Monroe Foreign Posters

These images of Marilyn Monroe may be the most iconic of all time. Her unique beauty and dramatic life was played out for all the world to see and speculate upon. Although she has been gone for more than 50 years, she is still one of the most recognized people in the world today.

Our three Marilyn Monroe wings focus on her spectacular career. I have always been amazed that although Marilyn’s career spanned from only the late 1940’s to the early 1960’s, she left a body of work that has withstood the test of time. She made many wonderful films and my favorite Marilyn movie Niagara. She played a true femme fatale and she slithered through the movie as she taunted Joseph Cotten’s character, George Loomis, her hapless husband. The scenery was gorgeous and, if you like mysteries, see Niagara.

Don’t Bother to Knock was also a wonderful film. Marilyn always managed to imbue her films with a feeling of uncertainty, a feeling that you did not know what would happen next. The posters for River of No Return were always a favorite of mine. They show Marilyn with long hair and I think they are beautiful.

The Seven Year Itch poster is Italian and one of a kind. It is the quintessential Marilyn. The pose. The look. 1959’s Some Like it Hot was a very funny movie with an all-star cast that included Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis playing women. Directed by Billy Wilder, this is one of Marilyn’s most famous films.
