Errol Flynn Stills
As you can see, we have a variety of stills showcasing Errol’s life and work. One of my favorite stills is of Errol with his then wife, Lili Damita, Marlene Dietrich and Carole Lombard. Errol was at the beginning of his career. In a few years, he would be an icon and divorced from Lili. Marlene would go on to help the US service men cope in World War II, and beautiful Carole Lombard would lose her life in a plane crash trying to help in the war effort. The picture, however, has an innocence about it.
You also see stills from many of his greatest films like The Sisters, The Adventures of Robin Hood, The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, and The Sea Hawk. A true feast for the eyes!
Errol Flynn Quotes
“I intend to live the first half of my life. I don’t care about the rest…”
“I allow myself to be understood as a colorful fragment in a drab world…”
“The public has always expected me to be a playboy, and a decent chap never lets his public down…”
Errol’s daughter with Nora Eddington, Rory Flynn, came to our gallery museum in 2008. What a beautiful woman. Errol would have been so proud. She came to honor both her illustrious dad and her handsome, talented, photojournalist half-brother, Sean.
I was fortunate to spend some time with her and she told me many wonderful stories about both of them. I felt close to her. She is a great photographer in her own right and I appreciated getting to know her.
